BSA Slalom Weymouth
What do I get my self into. Two years ago I said I wanted to race again, why I'm not sure as I wasn't much good at slalom back in the later 80's, so why now.
A snapped chillies put my first efforts back a year, and the three months practice was also another ream that didn't materialise ensuring this first weekend was a baptism of fire. Though as it turned out, a life fire to warm the hands would have been nice.
The wind were super light all weekend, just on the edge of racing conditions but always a little short. I'll be honest, having tested against the others I was hoping it would stay that way as I was struggling for speed.
Two days of practice and something clicked just in time as the wind picked up enough for one round of slalom.
A lot of lessons learnt. Firstly I'd learnt tune my gear for the light conditions, secondly and most importantly, I need to sort out my starts, they couldn't have been more off the pace.
Having said all that, a mid field placing was ok all things considered.
