BSB Cadwell Park
As any motorbike fan could tell you, this back holiday was a real corker for British Super Bikes, and thanks to an invite from Airwaves Ducati I had the prime spot to see the action. I watched Haslam’s nail biting win at Croft in the previous BSB round in an ice pack, so when the invite dropped through the letterbox earlier this week there could only be one place to spend my bank holiday weekend, Cadwell Park.
If you’ve ever been round Cadwell Park there is one section that’s bound to be your lasting memory of the track, the mountain. I can’t confess to being a great rider, but Cadwell was the first track I took my own bike to and at first sight I couldn’t understand why theycalled it the mountain, but as you first ride up it, you get the picture.
Back then I thought I was flying, but stood next to the mountain and watching how real riders take it on, my wheelies of the top weren’t so impressive when you see these guys not only attacking the track, but flying over it. As each practice session passed the jumps just got higher and longer, even when one rider would fall, it did nothing to slow the next.
The track had been dry for both the practice days, but the forecast for Race days summed up our British weather, unpredictable. Come the day and the weather upped its game, when it rained it poured, but the sun soon had the track drying out, giving no real clues to what tyres and set-up would work best.
Needles to say I’d got the right invite, and was sitting with the winning team and the end of play. Gregorio Lavilla took the first round from team mate Leon Haslam, but traded places for the second round. The weekend changed the overall standing in the Championship and puts the two boys one and two going into the penultimate round at Silverstone.
Below are some of the pix from the weekend, not only from the Airwaves Ducati boys but some of the other teams. For those that have been following my pages, you wont be surprised to see some super sport photos from MSS Kawasaki team.
I have loads more superbike photos in the photography section, take a look at them all or jump in at the bike you like best Airwaves Ducati, MSS Discovery, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha or all Superbike or Supersport
